thanksgiving
T Things I am thankful for....
H Hope. I'm thankful for the hope I have in my heart because of Christ. It is what get's me through each day and makes each day worth living.
A Answers to prayer. I'm thankful for a personal God who gives answers to my prayer.
N New and old friends. I'm thankful for all the new friends I have met in college, and all of the old ones who are always there to make me smile.
K Kindness. I'm thankful for those little acts of kindness that always brighten my day. When people I don't know say hey or smile at me, when I get an unexpected hug, or when I get a call or text from someone just wondering how I am, my day instantly gets 100 times better.
S Sibllings. I'm thankful for by brothers who make me laugh, and my sisters who make me laugh til I cry.
G Growth. I'm thankful for growth in nature, and the beauty of God's creation, as well as growth in life.
I Iphone. Haha, yes it's a trivial and material possession, but it sure is nice, and I am indeed thankful for my new Iphone.
V Vacations. I am thankful for vacations. There is no place like home... but I love long days on the beach with friends and family.
I Imagination. I am thankful for my imagination. My creative mind fuels everything I do, and I'm thankful for the gift of creativity.
N Nissan Maxima. I am thankful for my Nissan Maxima. It gets me from A to B, and I don't know what I'd do without it.
G God's grace. I am thankful for God's grace in my life.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4: 1-18
1 Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

thorns and roses
At my house it is often hard for everyone to say what they want to, and be heard by everyone. So we would often play this "game" called thorns and roses. We would go around the table and we would each say one good thing (rose) and one bad thing (thorn) about somehing in our lives or something that happened that day. And we would always have to start and end with saying a good thing/rose, my dad always said we had to make a rose sandwich (rose-thorn-rose). So today I am going to talk about a few thorns and roses in my life.Rose...
BDH had one of my favorite foods today, LIMA BEANS, and they were surprisingly really tasty.
Thorn...
I tripped and fell down the stairs at my house yesterday... (it is inevitable that I always have some sort of injury on my lower body... bruises, sprained ankles, and now bruised and swollen toes.) So yes it is very fun limping around to my classes:)
Rose:
ONLY 6 MORE DAYS OF CLASSES UNTIL THANKSGIVING BREAK!!! YAYYYYY!!!!!!!

Family...
My family is crazy and being at home is more like riding a roller coaster, but my family means the world to me and I would not be who I am today without them. There is never a dull moment at my house. Five kids, means five times the chaos. There is always one of us at dance practice, boy scouts, a sports practice or game, music lessons, choir practice, church, or who knows what. My dad works full time as a computer programmer and my mom homeschools my two brothers and works as a secretary at a dance academy. It seems like yesterday, when I was playing Barbie Dolls with my two sisters, but time really flies. Now that I am in college life seems to be moving even faster, since I do not get to see my family as often as I used to. However, when I do get to go home for a weekend and spend time with them, the time we have together is always treasured and precious. There is nothing like spending time with my family. I can always remember my parents, carving out time each day, for us to spend together as a family. My dad would prepare devotionals, and we would talk about how our day had been. When we ate dinner, we would read a table topics card and have a discussion about “what type of animal we think each of us would be”, or “where our dream vacation would be”. On Saturday nights, we used to watch “The Lawrence Welk Show”, and we would listen to the old songs, and dance around the living room. Whatever we were doing we found a way to make it special. My sisters and I are very close in age, and over the years have become best friends. When we were little, we played together all the time. It is rare to find one of us without the others; we are not called “The Thomas Girls” for nothing. Now that we are older, we are always sharing things about our lives with each other, and giving each other advice. When we moved into our house, we renovated the attic space, and created a floor just for the three girls. We love having our own space, and being able to spend all our time together up there. During the school year our schedules are crazy, so in the summer we are always having family time together. We spend a lot of our summer days at my grandparent’s lake house. Lake Norman is like my second home. I have been there every summer for as long as I can remember, and I hold some of my fondest memories there. If we are not at the lake, you can probably find us having a lazy day at the pool, or relaxing at home. Summer is a time when we have time to draw together and enjoy each other’s company. When I look back on those memories, I realize how blessed I am for the family I have, and it makes me happy to know that there are many more memories yet to come. My family is my rock; they have always been there to encourage me and help me whenever and wherever. Being at home, is like being able to press pause on my life as a college student, and play back everything I love and miss about home. It is the simple things in life like having family dinners, watching “The Cosby Show”, playing thorns-and-roses, or just laughing till I cry, that I hold the most near and dear to my heart. One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou and it says, “The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned." Home for me truly is where the heart is.
... in Him, you are home.
My mom sent me this devotional yesterday, and it was a great reminder and encouragement to me. Also, I thought it connected well with my last blog post. Hope it encourages you too.
"Where the Heart Is" by Susan Meissner
from Proverbs 31 Ministries
“He has planted eternity in the human heart …” Ecclesiastes 3:11b (NLT)
A while back, my young adult son took a trip to visit friends in the state where we used to live. He stopped by the house that had been ours for all of his childhood. And, he felt compelled to knock on the front door and introduce himself to the strangers who now own it.
When he said he had grown up in that house, the wife didn’t hesitate to open the door wide and invite him in. She knew that in our hearts we often feel toward our houses what we might feel for a trusted ally, a kind friend or maybe even a silent witness to our pain.
My latest character Marielle Bishop understands this. In my new novel A Sound Among the Trees, new bride Marielle takes up residence in an old house with a storied past. She just isn’t sure that this place can be a safe haven for her heart.
We are wired to feel a tug toward that one special place we feel safe, wanted and cared for. Our hearts are restless when we’re far from home, or our home is taken from us, or when discord disrupts the tranquility of that place.
So what’s a girl to do when she doesn’t feel at home? We need to remember that Christ is at home in her. So in a sense, we take our eternal home with us wherever we go. Wherever we are, we can feel safe, wanted and cared for by Christ who dwells inside every believer.
When the Israelites were waiting for God to lead them to their new home in the Promised Land, He had them build a tabernacle for His presence to dwell right there where they were, wherever that was on their journey.
We don’t use the word “tabernacle” much these days but if you were to look at its Hebrew roots you would see that it comes from the same word as “dwell” and “abide” and “settle down.” When God brings His presence right to where we are, He is “tabernacling” with us.
The Lord God Almighty settles down inside us. His Spirit lives in us. Our heart becomes His Holy tabernacle and He is at home in us. Isn’t that a thrilling, mind-bending concept?
The Bible tells us God has “set eternity in our hearts” which means He has made us hungry for His heavenly embrace. The affection we have for our earthly houses stems from this smoldering ember of our longing for Him as our eternal home.
There’s no place like home. It’s why we like everyone to be home for the holidays and home before dark and why we just want to go home when we’re having a bad day. Home is where our hearts are at rest. And our hearts can always be at rest in Him.
Whether your earthly home is as near as your next breath or too far away to be seen today, know that God has promised to tabernacle with you! He dwells with you. You are His earthly address. And in Him, you are home.

"...I just want to go back in time to American honey..."
So today I am going to tell you about my favorite band- Lady Antebellum, and my favorite type of music right now- Country.
I never really liked country music at all (I actually hated it..), until the end of senior year in high school. Somehow for some unknown reason I started listening to it on the radio, and I was hooked. The lyrics were fun and were perfect summer time. My favorite country band is Lady Antebellum. They recently came out with a new cd, which I got the day it came out (plus it came with a T-SHIRT!!)
I play the cd in the car ALL THE TIME. My friends used to say "ughhh why are we listening to this?", when we would get in the car. However, they now actually sing-a-long, and like it!!! They say I have "brainwashed" them, but I think that they have just grown to like it, because they really do love it now.
I think the reason I love this genre so much is because when I hear the songs, and listen to the lyrics, I feel like I am back at home.
Here are two of my favortite songs by them, hope you like it too!
